Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (MGIB-AD)
This program provides up to 36 months of education benefits that can be used for degree or certificate programs – such as for college, technical or vocational courses. Benefits are typically payable for 10 years following your release from active duty. The program is also known as Chapter 30.

The monthly benefit paid to you is based on the type of training you take, length of your service, your category, and if DOD put extra money in your MGIB Fund “kickers.” You usually have 10 years to use your MGIB benefits, but the time limit can be less, in some cases, and longer under certain circumstances.
Military GI Bill Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)
Available to members of the Selected Reserve, which includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, as well as the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
Entitles one to receive up to 36 months of education benefits.
This education assistance program may be used for degree programs, certificate or correspondence courses.
